Giving Opportunities

Join in supporting the Linda Hall Library Annual Fund

Gifts to the Annual Fund help the Linda Hall Library extend its resources in ways that inform, enlighten and lead to a greater understanding of science. Give now to the Annual Fund.

Annual Fund gifts help the Library:

  • maintain its famed research collections devoted to science, engineering, technology and the history of science;
  • interpret these collections through exhibitions, lectures and symposia;
  • offer fellowships to support scholarly inquiry;
  • provide care for the Library's verdant 14-acre arboretum offering an urban oasis for all who visit.

Your generous gift to the Annual Fund assists the Library in offering learning opportunities that lead to a greater understanding of science and technology. Your gift is a statement of your belief in the importance of understanding science and technology in today's complex world.

The Herbert and Linda Hall Legacy Society

The Herbert and Linda Hall Society was formed to honor our friends who have included the Linda Hall Library in their estate plan or other planned gift arrangement. The Herbert and Linda Hall Society increases awareness of the personal benefits of charitable gift planning for our friends and encourages them to consider making a meaningful planned gift to the Library.

Members of the Herbert and Linda Hall Society are recognized in publications and are provided access to additional Library resources, activities, events and benefits.

The Society's namesake, Herbert and Linda Hall, truly embodied the spirit of philanthropy and all that is represented in charitable giving through the bequests realized upon their deaths in 1941 and 1938, respectively.

In addition to leaving their 20 acre estate property, the Halls also left an endowment in excess of $6 million endowment that has since built 220,000 square feet of free public research library space and amassed a collection exceeding 1 million volumes.

In establishing the Herbert and Linda Hall Society, we honor the extraordinary contribution made by these two individuals, and the physical, permanent legacy that they created with their foresight and generosity.

Furthermore, through the Herbert and Linda Hall Society, we honor those who chose to include the Linda Hall Library in their estate plans or in a planned gift arrangement. Gifts received through an individual's planned giving instrument help build the endowment assuring a strong and sustaining future for the Linda Hall Library.
