Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math, and Science (AHETEMS) Scholarship Program is designed to enhance and achieve the potential of Latino students pursuing degrees in engineering, math and science. Merit-based and need-based scholarships are awarded, in the amount of $1,000 - $5,000, to deserving Latino/a high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who demonstrate both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

The Homework Zone
The Homework Zone is a free Kauffman Foundation-funded homework assistance program that is managed by YouthNet of Greater Kansas City. It is designed to help students in grades K-12 throughout the Greater Kansas City area. Students can call certified teachers Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and get help through the phone or online through Webex. To reach The Homework Zone, call 816-877-0777.

Kansas City, Missouri School District Planetarium
Located in the former Southwest High School building at 6512 Wornall Road, the Planetarium is open during regular school day hours for scheduled groups or classes. There are also a number of programs scheduled outside school hours; for example, the Planetarium hosts a bi-monthly public Sky Watch Program on Wednesday evenings.

The Kansas Junior Academy of Science (KJAS) is an organization for students interested in science and mathematics who wish to expand their ability and accomplishments in this field. Each student in the Junior Academy is encouraged to work on a science or mathematics project during the year.

Missouri Junior Academy of Science
The Missouri Junior Academy of Science (MJAS) brings together middle and high school students to present research papers to local scientists and professionals for judgment. Students compete for recognition and an opportunity to advance to the state level.

Science Olympiad
