A LEGACY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
From Celadon to Ceramic Engineering

Year 1000
During the Song dynasty (960-1279), Chinese pottery entered its golden age. Potteries employed hundreds of workers with specialized tasks in porcelain manufacture. Forming, glazing and firing techniques were regularized. The variety and richness of glaze colors and the beauty of the carved wares has rarely been equaled. During this period, the delicate jade-green celadon and peach-blush red glazes were perfected.
