A LEGACY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Niagara Falls Power Station
1895
In 1895 the Central Power Station of Niagara Falls was put into operation by the Niagara Falls Power Company. The immense energy of the Falls was harnessed by great turbines to supply power to a large region of New York State. The developers of the project envisioned a future with large cities, the population satisfying all their needs from the force of the Falls. Today the Mohawk-Niagara Power Company continues to use the energy generated by this tremendous flow of water.
