Linda Hall Library Services During Covid-19

The Linda Hall Library will continue offering selected services to the public including:

  • Curbside pickup and return of up to 10 items per day from our circulating collection between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays (certain exclusions apply*)
  • Up to seven requests for limited digital content delivery per week (certain exclusion apply*)

These services are available at no charge to:

  • Adult patrons
  • Corporate Borrowers
  • Special Arrangement Patrons

Onsite Research

Beginning June 1, 2021, patrons with research needs requiring the in-person use of Library materials will be able to do so in the following manner:

  • The Main Reading Room will be open for research without the need for making a reservation Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and on Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Use of the History of Science Reading Room will still require an appointment
  • Patrons must identify specific resources they wish to use during their visit. Casual visits are not permitted at this time for the safety of our staff and patrons. Patrons should request the materials they plan to use through Primo. For help with requesting materials, visit our Using the Library page
  • Appointments for the History of Science Reading Room must be made at least 48 hours in advance by completing and submitting this form
  • All Library materials to be used during your visit must be listed on this form. Materials and their call numbers may be found by searching in Primo
  • Questions should be directed to the Reference Services department (816.926.8701)

Onsite Safety Protocols

All Library patrons must adhere to the following safety protocols while in the Library:

  • Masks are recommended indoors for all visitors and staff. Single-use masks are available if one is needed
  • During your visit, your movements within the building will be limited to the Main Reading Room or the History of Science Reading Room and the nearest public restroom
  • All stack areas, including the Mezzanine, will remain closed to patrons
  • Please select a single seat that will become your reading room location for the duration of your visit

To Request Materials and Curbside Delivery:

  • Log into your Primo account at the LHL online catalog site
  • If you do not have a Primo account, you may create one by filling out a Registration Application or by contacting the Reference Services department (816.926.8701)
  • Find the item you would like to request; click on the request button in Primo. For detailed instructions on requesting materials in Primo, visit Using the Library page
  • Approximately 24 hours after submitting your request, you will receive an email advising that the materials are ready for pick-up
  • Follow the instructions for pick-up indicated in the email notification

Curbside Pickup Excludes:

  • Conference proceedings
  • Technical standards and reports
  • Government documents
  • Serials
  • Maps
  • Non-print materials
  • Items in the History of Science collection
