SOCIAL Science: Forensic Science – The Real CSI
March 22, 2016, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
About Social Science
Tired of being stuck in rush hour traffic? Need to spice up your social life? Take a pit stop at the Library on your way home for a little science and socializing with like-minded friends. Social Science is an adult event, welcoming those 21 and over to grab a beer, make some new friends, and enjoy a science talk on a fun topic.
About the March 22 event
Jennifer Howard, DNA Technical Leader at the Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory, will provide an overview of working at the Crime Lab: the science and technology utilized, a typical day as a forensic scientist, and case examples highlighting work at the KCPCL. The emphasis will be on DNA analysis, but other aspects of the laboratory will also be discussed.
The event is free and open to the public; however, e-tickets are required. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
Parking is free in Library parking lots and along the west side of Holmes Street between 51st and 52nd streets. The main entrance to the Library grounds is on Cherry Street. The Linda Hall Library is not affiliated with UMKC. Parking in all UMKC lots is by permit or meter. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
