Inventing KC: An Introduction to the Kansas City Invention Convention
February 27, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Linda Hall Library’s inaugural Kansas City Invention Convention, an affiliate program of The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, opens this spring for students in grades 4 through 12. Students from around the Kansas City metro are empowered to imagine new solutions to everyday challenges. With the support of teachers and mentors, and one-of-a-kind tips from living inventors and industry experts, students embark on a journey of creativity and growth. KCIC will introduce students to STEM concepts, entrepreneurship and more as they create their own inventions and have a chance to win prizes, scholarships and an opportunity to go to nationals. The competition will culminate in a virtual awards ceremony on April 29, 2021.
Eric Ward, Vice President for Public Programs, will provide an overview of KCIC and answer your questions about how to enter and succeed in the competition. If you are a student, educator, or parent interested in KCIC and its invention curriculum, don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this exciting new program.
Eric Ward joined the Linda Hall Library in 2006 and is Vice President for Public Programs. He has brought to Kansas City a wide range of distinguished speakers, from the inventor of the digital camera to Nobel laureates, astronauts, and Pulitzer Prize-winner historians. He has also curated numerous gallery exhibitions during his tenure at the Library.
