About SOCIAL Science

Tired of being stuck in rush hour traffic? Need to spice up your social life? Take a pit stop at the Library on your way home for a little science and socializing with like-minded friends. SOCIAL Science is a young adult event, welcoming those 21 and over to grab a drink, make some new friends, and enjoy a science talk on a fun topic. Not a young adult? Everybody is welcome! Seating is limited.

About the April 21 event

Local pilot Austin Hunt flies and manages corporate jets for a living and holds an airline transport pilot license, the highest level of license to fly commercial planes. He serves as the Chief Pilot and Director of Flight Operations at New Century Air Service and is also a test pilot at Dodson International Parts. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and entrepreneurship from UMKC.

Admission tickets

The event is free and open to the public; however, E-tickets are required. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.


Parking is free in Library parking lots and along the west side of Holmes Street between 51st and 52nd streets. The main entrance to the Library grounds is on Cherry Street. The Linda Hall Library is not affiliated with UMKC. Parking in all UMKC lots is by permit or meter. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
