We are committed to broadening our influence both locally and globally through targedt activities that highlight our unique contributions to culture and the understanding of science and the scientific process. Noteworthy initiatives, such as the Kansas City Invention Convention and our expanding exhibition program, play a pivotal role in elevating our profile and demonstrating our value to a diverse audience. Strategic collaborations with acacdemic institutions, industry leaders, and community organizations futher amplify our impact, enabling us to share our knowledge and resources more effectively.

  • Expand our network of scholars. Actively broaden our network of scholars by fostering collaborations and partnerships, both locally and globally, to enhance our research capabilities and enrich our academic community.
  • Explore the future of science. Our strategic vision embraces both the rich heritage and the evolving future of scientific inquiry. By aligning our efforts with emerging trends and key areas of importance, we will enhance our capacity to support transformative research and address the critical questions of our time. This approach ensures we remain a vital and dynamic resource for scholars and innovators for generations to come.
  • Evaluate & increase access. Continuously assess and improve accessbility to our collections, in Kansas City and beyond, implementing advanced technologicacl solutions and accessbile practices to ensure that our resources are available to a wider audience, both onsite and online.
  • Rebrand the Library. Reinvigorate our brand identity to reflect more closely the dynamic integration of tradition and innovation at our instituttion, ensuring it resonates with current audiences and attracts new ones. Create sub-brands where appropriate.
  • Expand our education program. Enhance and expand the Library's education in phases, including the scale and reach of the Kansas City Invention Convention, STEM and STEAM learning, and the development of hands-on workshops, to foster a culture of innovation and creativity among young people in the region.
  • Grow our exhibition program. Expand and diversify our exhibition program to showcase a wider array of themes and artifacts, engaging a broader audience and enhancing educational opportunities through interactive and interdisciplinary displays.
  • Develop a publication stream. Establish a publication program to produce high-quality content that highlights our collections and exhibitions, extending our educational impact and enhancing our visibility in the scholarly and public spheres.
  • Advocate for Science. With partners such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the National Humanities Alliance (NHA), and the Independent Research Libraries Association (IRLA), promote science and cultural literacy, environmental sustainability, and broad accessibility through integration of digital tools throughout scholarly research.
