The Linda Hall announces new public visiting hours every Saturday
KANSAS CITY, MO — Earlier this summer, The Linda Hall: Science Library & Arboretum issued an invitation to our community: unleash your curiosity. Now, the Library is making opportunities to learn more accessible than ever.
The Linda Hall is opening to the public every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Previously, the Library was open on weekdays and for one Saturday program a month. Admission remains completely free of charge.
New Saturday hours begin Aug. 29 with the grand opening of The Linda Hall’s new gift shop. The Curiosity Shop offers one-of-a-kind treasures inspired by the collection, including books, art, and experiments, so visitors can bring a piece of the Library’s wonder home.
Each Saturday will also offer free, family-friendly programs. This fall, events include Arboretum and gallery tours, matinee movies such as Project Hail Mary, and a panel for students exploring careers in healthcare.
“As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, The Linda Hall is opening its doors even further to our campus, programs, and new Curiosity Shop,” said President and CEO Eric Dorfman. “Countless incredible discoveries await inside. We invite Kansas City to spend their Saturdays with us and uncover what sparks their curiosity.”
These new hours are the perfect chance for visitors who haven’t had the chance to explore the cultural institution as well as regulars excited for new ways to engage with the Library. Please join The Linda Hall’s celebration for the launch of its Saturday hours:
Saturday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
10:15 a.m.: Ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Curiosity Shop.
10:30 – 11:30 a.m.: Summer Science Reads: Collection Highlights with Sara. Attendees will join in a discussion about their favorite reads of the summer and get inspiration for new books to check out from Reference Librarian Sara Mawhirter.
